I use my Starlink Mini a lot on the road, and one of the biggest questions with mobile Starlink is where to put the dish. Setting it on the hood or the ground works for a quick test, but I wanted something that would hold it securely on the roof of my vehicle and protect it while I’m traveling. For this review, I tested the STARGEAR Starlink Mini Magnetic Mount and Protective Case on my SUV.
STARGEAR sent me this mount to review. In my video, I mount it to the roof of my vehicle, connect my Starlink Mini, and browse YouTube to show the internet performance while showing how securely the magnetic mount holds the dish in place.
In this STARGEAR Starlink Mini magnetic mount review, I’ll cover what it is, its key features, how it worked on my SUV, the storage and mounting options, the pros and cons, and who it’s for.

What Is the STARGEAR Starlink Mini Magnetic Mount?
The STARGEAR Starlink Mini Magnetic Mount is a 2-in-1 accessory designed exclusively for the Starlink Mini. It works as both a protective hard shell case and a magnetic vehicle mount.
The Starlink Mini sits inside the case, and four powerful magnetic bases let you attach the whole thing to a steel surface like the roof of a car, SUV, truck, or RV, without drilling or any permanent modifications. When you’re done, the magnets store inside the case, and you can carry it all with the handle or shoulder strap.

Mounting It on My SUV
For this review, I mounted the STARGEAR Magnetic Mount directly onto the roof of my SUV.
One of the biggest advantages is that the mount attaches quickly without requiring any permanent modifications. The magnets held securely to the roof of my vehicle, giving me confidence that the Starlink Mini would stay in place while parked and in use.
STARGEAR says the four magnetic bases provide a combined 200 lbs of pull force and are designed to keep the Mini stable on bumpy roads, at highway speeds up to 80 mph, and in windy conditions. I’d still recommend checking the mount before every drive and following Starlink’s own guidance for in-motion use.
A Note About Glass and Aluminum Roofs
Magnets only work on steel. STARGEAR notes that if you want to use the magnetic mount on glass or aluminum surfaces, you’ll need to pair it with separate magnetic metal pads. Check what your vehicle’s roof is made of before you buy.
Testing the Starlink Mini Connection
Once everything was connected, I tested the internet connection by watching videos on my friend’s YouTube channel, Canyon Reviews. The Starlink Mini delivered excellent speeds, and videos loaded smoothly without any issues.
The case has a charging port opening, so I could connect power to the Starlink Mini while it was sitting inside the case on the roof.
More Than a Mount: A Protective Case
I also like that this isn’t just a magnetic mount. The STARGEAR Starlink Mini Magnetic Mount doubles as a protective case, helping protect the Starlink Mini from scratches and impacts while making it much easier to transport between locations.
Built-In Accessory Storage
Another feature I appreciate is the built-in storage compartment. Having a dedicated place to store cables and the magnetic bases, with a lid that closes magnetically, helps keep everything organized when traveling.
Handle and Shoulder Strap
The carrying handle and included shoulder strap are nice additions as well, making it easy to grab the Starlink Mini and head to your next destination. You can carry it by hand, wear it across your body, or attach it to a backpack.
Seven 1/4″-20 Mounting Points
The multiple 1/4″-20 mounting points also provide a lot of flexibility if you want to mount the Starlink Mini using other accessories. 1/4″-20 is the same thread size used on most camera tripods and many mounting accessories, so you can use the case with a grip mount, a dashboard mount, or a tripod, in addition to the magnets.
Where You Can Use It
- Cars and SUVs: on a steel roof for road trips
- Trucks and trailers: for job sites and towing trips
- RVs and campers: for campsites without a permanent mount
- Boats and yachts: STARGEAR lists marine use (with a compatible steel surface)
- Tripods and DIY setups: using the 1/4″-20 threaded holes
