My Proster USB-C rechargeable smart multimeter review: testing my 12V lithium battery, a trickle solar panel and a 100W panel, 5-inch screen, pros, and cons.

If you run a solar or battery setup, a good multimeter is one of the most important tools you can own. It tells you whether your battery is healthy and whether your panels are actually producing.

For this review, Proster sent me its Proster USB-C Rechargeable Smart Multimeter, and I used it on my entire solar battery system. I tested my 12V lithium battery, my small trickle solar panel, and my 100W solar panel, and it gave clear readings every time.

My Readings

12V Lithium Battery: 13.32V

When I tested my lithium battery, it showed a reading of 13.32 volts, so I could quickly confirm everything was working correctly.

Trickle Solar Panel

Then I checked my small trickle solar panel. The readings I showed in the video ranged from about 10.4 to 10.9 volts, and at another point around 20 to 22 volts, so I could see exactly what the panel was producing.

100W Solar Panel

I also hooked it up to my 100W solar panel through my solar charge controller, and the readings came through instantly.

The Screen and Flashlight

The 5-inch color display is super clear. I could see the data easily indoors and outdoors. The backlight and built-in flashlight make it easy to see your readings outside or in dim areas, like under a table or near tight wiring.

Smart Features

True RMS, auto-ranging, and automatic jack recognition make it simple to use, even if you’re not a pro electrician. The auto mode made switching between different tests easy. The automatic jack recognition helps avoid mistakes by detecting where the test lead is plugged in.

The NCV feature also worked well for detecting live wires without touching anything.

USB-C Rechargeable

Since it’s USB-C rechargeable, you don’t have to worry about swapping batteries all the time. It charges quickly and holds a charge well.

Safety

With the CAT III 600V safety rating, it’s built to stay safe while you’re testing solar gear or home circuits. The casing feels durable.
