Qcells Q.HOME CORE G3 Review: 13.1 kWh Specs, Warranty and Who It Suits

The Qcells Q.HOME CORE G3 is Qcells’ third-generation home battery: one AC-coupled cabinet with 13.12 kWh of LFP storage and 7.6 kW of output, expandable to 26.24 kWh and 15.2 kW with a second cabinet. In May 2026, Qcells announced a US-assembled version built with Jabil in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and said it was commercially available and shipping nationwide. This review uses Qcells’ August 2026 US datasheet, product page and announcement for every figure. We haven’t tested one ourselves.

Q.HOME CORE G3 at a Glance

Qcells’ US product page now features the G3, sold in two versions:

  • Q.HOME CORE A7.6B13.1: the standard G3.
  • Q.HOME CORE A7.6B13.1 US.1: the US-assembled version, which Qcells says contains US-made components and non-prohibited foreign entity (non-PFE) content that can help projects qualify for the 10% domestic content bonus on applicable investment and production tax credits. Qcells notes this isn’t tax advice.

The G3 runs in two layouts. Grid Support pairs the battery with Qcells AC modules for time-of-use savings, with no backup hub. Backup adds the Q.HOME HUB G3, which provides outage backup, split-phase power, Storm Protect alerts, generator integration and the option of a second cabinet.

Earlier Q.HOME CORE systems (H- and A-series) paired a Q.VOLT inverter with stacked 5 kWh modules. Those stay under their own 12-year Qcells warranty, while Qcells’ current product page features the G3.

What the Specs Mean

  • One size, one step up. The G3 comes as a single 13.12 kWh cabinet. To grow, you add one more for 26.24 kWh, and that needs the backup hub.
  • 95% depth of discharge. Qcells rates 12.46 kWh usable per cabinet, so the gap between total and usable energy is small.
  • Backup isn’t automatic. In the Grid Support layout without the hub, Qcells says the system doesn’t support off-grid operation. If outage backup matters, make sure the quote includes the Q.HOME HUB G3.
  • Motor starts. The 10.64 kW, 10-second off-grid peak and 44.3 A LRA set what heavy loads one cabinet can start.

Warranty in Detail

Qcells lists a 15-year product warranty and a 68 MWh battery energy throughput warranty for the G3, with Qcells as the single warrantor for the system. That’s longer than the 12-year standard term on earlier Q.HOME CORE systems. The datasheet doesn’t state an end-of-warranty capacity percentage, so ask for Qcells’ G3 warranty document before you sign.

Figures from each maker’s US documents.

  • Versus Powerwall 3: similar energy per unit, but Powerwall 3 supplies more continuous power and has a built-in solar inverter. See our Tesla Powerwall 3 review.
  • Versus Enphase 5P: both are AC-coupled. Enphase scales in 5 kWh steps, while the G3 comes in 13 kWh blocks with a two-cabinet limit.
  • Versus FranklinWH aPower 2: FranklinWH stores a little more and supplies more power per unit, and it can scale much further. Both carry 15-year terms. Compare more in Powerwall 3 vs Enphase vs FranklinWH.

Who It Suits

  • Homes buying Qcells AC solar modules that want one brand and one warrantor for panels and battery, as Qcells promotes.
  • Time-of-use customers, such as those on California’s NEM 3.0, who mainly want to shift solar into the evening.
  • Third-party-owned (lease or PPA) systems, which Qcells says the US-assembled G3 is built for.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

  • Homes that need more than 26.24 kWh or more than 15.2 kW from one system.
  • Buyers who want outage backup but don’t want to pay for the extra hub.

Sizing Example

Illustrative inputs: a home on a time-of-use plan uses 10 kWh between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., with a 6 kW evening peak.

  1. Energy: 10 kWh ÷ 0.9 (to keep a 10% reserve) = 11.1 kWh, under one cabinet’s 12.46 kWh usable.
  2. Power: the 6 kW peak fits under the 7.6 kW rating.
  3. Backup: if the home also wants outage coverage, add the Q.HOME HUB G3, and consider a second cabinet for long outages.
  4. Solar to refill: about 12.46 ÷ 0.897 ≈ 14 kWh of daytime solar to refill one cabinet from empty, using the system round-trip efficiency as a rough guide.

Questions to Ask a Qcells Installer

  1. Is this the standard G3 or the US-assembled US.1 version, and does it matter for my financing?
  2. Grid Support or Backup layout? Is the Q.HOME HUB G3 included?
  3. One cabinet or two, and can I add the second later?
  4. Can I see Qcells’ G3 warranty document, including the end-of-term capacity terms?

Price and Incentives

Qcells sells through installers and its EnFin financing arm, and prices vary by layout and electrical work. We aren’t publishing a figure we can’t verify. There’s no 30% federal credit for homeowner-owned systems installed after December 31, 2025 (IRS). The domestic content bonus Qcells mentions applies to investment and production tax credits, which typically involve third-party-owned systems.

Electrical work can be dangerous: follow the manual, fuse and size every cable correctly, and use a licensed electrician for anything connected to household wiring.
