Most Starlink Mini cases do one job: they protect the dish while it is packed away. To get online, you open the lid, pull the dish out, and run a cable to your power source. The STARWARE case takes a different approach. The dish sits in a molded slot on top of the closed case, and power goes in through a waterproof DC port on the side.
STARWARE sent me this case to review. If you buy through my Amazon links, I may earn a commission at no cost to you.
I tested the STARWARE Starlink Mini Protective Case with DC Port by closing the case, setting my Starlink Mini on top, plugging in a portable power station, and streaming YouTube on my iPad over the Starlink Wi-Fi. In this Starlink Mini case with DC port review, I cover how that closed-case setup works, the build and protection, what comes in the box, a worked example of how long a power station can run the dish this way, and who this case is for.

What Is the STARWARE Starlink Mini Case with DC Port?
The STARWARE Starlink Mini Case with DC Port (model M101S) is a hard-shell travel case made only for the Starlink Mini. Inside, custom dual-layer EVA foam holds the dish and its accessories. Outside, the lid has a molded mounting slot with latches, so the dish can sit on top of the closed case and keep working. A waterproof DC port mounted on an aluminum alloy panel lets you feed power in without opening the lid.
That combination is the whole point of this case. It is storage when you are moving, and a weatherproof base when you are parked. You don’t have to leave the lid open with a cable running through the gap.

Closed-Case Operation: How I Used It
This is the feature I like most. I placed my Starlink Mini in the molded section on top of the STARWARE case, closed and latched everything, and plugged my portable power station into the DC port on the side. The dish powered up while sitting on the closed case.
To check that the connection was really working, I joined my iPad to the Starlink Wi-Fi network, opened YouTube, and played videos. Everything streamed without any issues, with the case shut the whole time.
That matters more than it sounds. With a regular hard case, you either set the dish on the ground or a table, or you leave the lid open with a cable running out of it. Here the case becomes a stable base that keeps the cable connection sealed. When you are done, the dish, cable and adapter go back inside the foam, and you carry it all by the handle.
Setting It Up Step by Step
- Open the case and take out the cable and adapter you plan to use.
- Close and latch the case so the IP67 seal is engaged.
- Seat the Starlink Mini in the mounting slot on the lid and secure the latches.
- Connect your power station to the waterproof DC port on the side of the case.
- Point the dish at open sky, power on, and connect your phone, tablet or laptop to the Starlink Wi-Fi.
Build Quality and Protection
The shell is heavy-duty polypropylene with a rubber sealing gasket, and STARWARE rates the case IP67 against water and dust when it is properly closed. In my video I dropped the case, and the Starlink Mini inside came through without any problem.
The inside uses dual-layer EVA foam cut for the dish and its accessories. STARWARE describes it as high-density, REACH-certified foam meant to absorb rough-road vibration during off-road travel. The lid has a honeycomb pattern underneath, which stiffens the mounting area and leaves airflow channels below the dish to help with heat during summer use.
There is also a pressure equalization valve, which STARWARE includes for high-altitude mountain drives where air pressure changes while the case is sealed.
Powering Starlink Mini Through the DC Port
The STARWARE case comes with a 6.6-foot DC power cable and a USB-C adapter, so you have two ways to feed it. STARWARE says you can use a traditional DC power station or a USB-C power bank rated at 100W or higher.
If you want more options for powering the dish in a car or from a battery, I have also tested the STARGEAR Starlink Mini 12V to 30V car adapter, the Zitrone Starlink Mini battery power adapter and the XTAR MP158 power bank.
Worked Example: How Long Can a Power Station Run It?
Starlink lists the Starlink Mini’s average power use at about 25 to 40 watts. Here is a simple estimate for running it through the DC port from a portable power station. I assume about 85 percent of the battery capacity actually reaches the dish after conversion losses. Your real runtime depends on weather, obstructions, how many devices are connected, and your power station.
| Power station size | Usable (85%) | At 40W | At 25W |
|---|---|---|---|
| 256Wh | ~218Wh | ~5.4 hours | ~8.7 hours |
| 500Wh | ~425Wh | ~10.6 hours | ~17 hours |
| 1,000Wh | ~850Wh | ~21 hours | ~34 hours |
The math is usable watt-hours divided by watts. For a 500Wh station, 500 x 0.85 = 425Wh, and 425 / 40W is about 10.6 hours. These are estimates, not measurements from my video.
What Comes in the Box
- STARWARE Starlink Mini protective case with DC port
- 6.6-foot (2m) DC power cable

The Starlink Mini itself is not included.
Things to Know Before You Buy
- It is made for the Starlink Mini only, so it won’t fit the Standard dish.
- You still need a power source, such as a DC power station or a 100W-plus USB-C power bank.
- At about 4.4 pounds empty and 16.9 by 13.3 inches, it is a full hard case, not a slim sleeve.
- STARWARE suggests airing out the new foam for a few hours before first use, since it ships sealed.
