BougeRV CR Pro 30 Review: 30-Quart 12V Fridge Specs and Runtime

BougeRV’s CRPRO30 is a 30-quart compressor fridge-freezer that cools from 50°F down to -8°F and is rated at 45W in Eco mode and 60W in Max mode, according to BougeRV’s product page. On October 17, 2026, BougeRV’s US store listed it at $234.99 for the fridge alone, $289.99 with an insulated cover, and $399.99 bundled with BougeRV’s 266Wh battery. That puts it at the budget end of compressor fridges, with a few extras the cheaper BougeRV CR series leaves out. This review covers what you get, how much power it uses, and who it suits.

What’s in the Box

  • CRPRO 30QT fridge (black)
  • 100–240V AC adapter (6.56 ft)
  • 12V/24V DC power cord (10.82 ft)
  • Short 12V/24V DC cord (1.64 ft) for the optional battery
  • User manual

The long 10.8-foot DC cord is a nice touch. It reaches from a front 12V socket to the cargo area of most SUVs without an extension.

CR Pro vs the Standard CR Series

BougeRV sells two 30-quart lines. Its own comparison chart shows what the “Pro” adds:

Feature CR-PRO series CR series
Temperature range -8°F to 50°F -8°F to 50°F
Rated wattage Max 60W / Eco 45W Max 45W / Eco 36W
Storage box (battery compartment) Yes No
Interior light Yes No
Safety tie-down points Yes No
Bottle opener Yes No

The Pro’s higher wattage rating means its compressor draws more when running. The practical result is likely faster pull-down from a warm start, though we haven’t timed it yet. If you mostly keep drinks cool on short trips and don’t need the battery compartment, the CR series uses less power. If you plan to run off a battery away from the vehicle, the Pro’s built-in storage box is the reason to choose it.

Power Use and Runtime (Estimates)

Compressor fridges don’t run constantly. The compressor cycles on to reach the set temperature, then shuts off. Average draw depends on outside heat, how cold you set it, how full it is and how often you open the lid. BougeRV publishes the running wattage (45W Eco, 60W Max) but not a daily energy figure, so the table below uses assumed average draws.

Scenario (our assumption) Assumed average draw Daily energy BougeRV 266Wh battery 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 (~1,280Wh)
Mild day, fridge at 38°F, Eco mode ~15W ~360Wh ~17 hours ~3.5 days
Warm day, 38°F, frequent opening ~22W ~530Wh ~12 hours ~2.3 days
Hot day, freezer at 0°F, Max mode ~35W ~840Wh ~7 hours ~1.5 days

Runtimes assume about 95% usable battery energy and are rough guides only. A pre-chilled fridge loaded with cold food will do better than these numbers, and one parked in a hot car with the windows up will do worse. To size a power station for your trips, see our guide to powering a fridge or freezer from a portable power station.

Power Options

Vehicle 12V Socket

The simplest setup is plugging into your vehicle’s 12V outlet while driving. Be careful when parked. Many vehicles keep the socket live with the engine off, and a compressor fridge can slowly drain a starter battery overnight. A separate house battery or power station avoids that risk.

BougeRV 266Wh Battery Bundle

BougeRV’s $399.99 Fridge+Battery option adds its 266Wh battery, which fits in the CRPRO’s storage compartment and connects with the short DC cord. The full kit, with fridge, battery and insulated cover, was listed at $419.99. Bought together, the battery adds about $165 over the fridge-only price.

Portable Power Station or House Battery

Any power station with a 12V car outlet can run the CRPRO30 directly from DC, which avoids inverter losses. A 12V LiFePO4 house battery in a camper or truck bed works the same way. For a permanent install, see our 12V fridge slide guide for mounting options.

AC at Home

The included 100–240V adapter lets you pre-chill the fridge in the kitchen the night before a trip, which saves battery power on day one.

Will It Fit Your Vehicle and Your Food?

The 23.7 x 12.6 x 16.1-inch exterior fits behind the front seats of most crew-cab trucks, in an SUV cargo area or on the floor of a camper van. The interior is 13.8 x 9.8 x 13.0 inches, deep enough to stand 2-liter bottles upright. BougeRV says it holds up to 40 cans.

For a sense of scale (our estimate): 30 quarts is about two to three days of fresh food for two people, or a long weekend for one person with drinks. Families or anyone staying out longer than a weekend usually step up to 40 to 55 quarts, or a dual-zone model. Our best 12V fridge for a car and best 12V fridge for van life roundups compare larger options.

Strengths

  • A real compressor fridge-freezer at a cooler-like price
  • Reaches -8°F, so it can work as a dedicated freezer
  • Runs on 12V or 24V DC and AC, with both cords included
  • Battery compartment keeps the optional 266Wh pack tidy and secure
  • Tie-down points and a rated 30° tilt suit off-road trips
  • Interior light helps at night

Things to Know Before You Buy

  • No app listed. Temperature control is on the fridge itself.
  • Single zone. It’s a fridge or a freezer at any given time, not both.
  • Weight. At about 27 lb empty, plan for a two-handed carry once it’s loaded.
  • Max mode costs power. Use Eco once the fridge reaches temperature to save battery.

Tips to Get the Most From It

  1. Pre-chill on AC at home the night before you leave.
  2. Load it with cold or frozen food, not room-temperature items.
  3. Keep it out of direct sun and leave a few inches of space around the vents.
  4. Fill empty space with frozen water bottles; they act as thermal mass.
  5. Switch to Eco mode once it reaches your set temperature.
  6. Consider the insulated cover ($55 more in the bundle) for hot climates.

FAQ

How cold does the BougeRV CRPRO30 get?

BougeRV lists a range of -8°F to 50°F, so it can work as a fridge or a freezer.

How many watts does the CRPRO30 use?

BougeRV rates it at 45W in Eco mode and 60W in Max mode while the compressor runs. Average consumption over a day is much lower because the compressor cycles on and off.

Can it run on 24V?

Yes. It accepts 12V or 24V DC, and an AC adapter for 110–240V is included.

How long will it run on BougeRV’s 266Wh battery?

BougeRV doesn’t publish a runtime figure. Our estimate is roughly 7 to 17 hours depending on heat, temperature setting and mode.

What is the difference between the CR Pro 30 and the CR 30?

Per BougeRV’s chart, both reach -8°F. The Pro adds a battery storage box, interior light, tie-down points and a bottle opener, and is rated at higher wattage (60W Max versus 45W).

Is it noisy?

BougeRV rates it at 45 dB, which is about as loud as a quiet household fridge. It’s audible in a silent tent but not loud.

Verdict

The BougeRV CRPRO30 delivers the core of what you want from a 12V fridge: true freezing capability, DC and AC power, and a size that fits most vehicles, at a price well below premium brands. The battery compartment and tie-down points make it a better off-grid companion than BougeRV’s basic CR series. If you need an app, dual zones or more than a long weekend’s worth of space, look larger. For weekend camping and road trips, it’s a solid, sensible pick.
