CPAP Camping With the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max (+ FAA Rules)

Plan CPAP camping with the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max: nights per charge on DC, solar top-ups, cold-weather tips, tent setup and the FAA rules for flying.

Medical disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional. This is not medical advice. Talk to your doctor, your equipment supplier (DME), and your device’s manufacturer before relying on any battery for medical equipment. Always have a backup plan.

CPAP camping with the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max turns a weekend at a no-hookup site from a power puzzle into a non-issue. On DC with the humidifier off, it can cover about a week of nights, and a solar panel can stretch that indefinitely in good weather. This guide covers the camp setup, cold nights, solar, a packing list and the travel rules that matter if you’re flying to your trip.

Testing note: Our CPAP camping and timeout-setup videos are scheduled. Nights-per-charge figures below are our labeled estimates for a ResMed AirSense 11-class machine. Measure your own machine at home first.

How Many Camping Nights per Charge?

SetupTypical CPAP drawEst. nights (8h)
DC via manufacturer converter, humidifier off~30W used for math (owners measure 5–8W at low pressure with heat off)~7 nights
DC, humidifier on~55W~4 nights
AC, humidifier off~30W + ~25W inverter idle~4 nights
AC, humidifier on~55W + idle~2.5 nights

Owner measurements on r/CPAP show how much setup matters: some AirSense 11 users measured just 5–8W with heat off. Your machine, pressure and settings decide the real number. Change humidifier settings only with your doctor’s approval. More detail is in our CPAP runtime guide.

The Camp Setup

  1. Use DC. Plug your CPAP manufacturer’s DC cord or converter (for example ResMed’s Air11 DC/DC converter) into the Delta 3 Max’s 12V socket (126W max). The socket is on the back, so position the station accordingly.
  2. Set DC Timeout to “Never” in the app before you leave home. It’s the most important setting for overnight CPAP use.
  3. Keep the station outside the tent’s sleeping area, in the vestibule or under a covered table, off wet ground. EcoFlow doesn’t list an IP rating.
  4. Route the cord through a tent cord port or a door gap, with a drip loop so condensation doesn’t run along it.
  5. Do a test night in the backyard or a nearby campground before a remote trip.

Cold Nights

  • The Delta 3 Max discharges down to −10°C (14°F), so it’ll power your CPAP on a frosty night.
  • It won’t charge below 0°C (32°F). On cold mornings, wait for the sun to warm the unit before expecting solar input.
  • Cold air can make CPAP therapy uncomfortable. A heated humidifier helps but roughly halves your nights. Discuss options such as insulated tubing covers with your supplier.
  • A heated throw (around 60W) for yourself costs roughly 19–20 hours per full charge, so budget carefully if you want both.

Solar Top-Ups

A CPAP on DC uses roughly 250–450Wh a night. A single 220W panel in decent sun can replace that in a few hours. For longer trips, two EcoFlow 220W bifacial panels in series max out the Delta 3 Max’s 500W solar input. The Delta 3 Max + 220W panel bundle is a straightforward kit, and our solar setup guide lists combinations that stay under 60V and 18A.

Sharing the Battery With Camp Gear

Add-onEst. daily energy
12V camping fridge (DC)~360Wh
Phones and headlamps (USB)~50Wh
Kettle for coffee (AC)~120Wh

With a CPAP, a fridge and coffee, you’ll use around 750–900Wh a day, so a full Delta 3 Max lasts about two days without solar. With a panel, it can keep going. See our camping fridge guide for fridge settings.

Flying to Your Trip: FAA Rules

  • The Delta 3 Max can’t fly. The FAA bans lithium power stations over 160Wh on passenger aircraft, in both carry-on and checked bags. The Delta 3 Max is 2,048Wh.
  • CPAP batteries: lithium batteries up to 100Wh are generally allowed in carry-on; 100–160Wh batteries need airline approval; over 160Wh is prohibited. Spare batteries must go in carry-on. Check the FAA’s battery chart and your airline.
  • Portable oxygen concentrators have their own FAA approval list and battery rules.

The practical plan: drive with the Delta 3 Max, or fly with an FAA-compliant CPAP battery and rent or borrow power at your destination.

CPAP Camping Packing List

  • Delta 3 Max, charged to 100%
  • Manufacturer DC cord or converter for your CPAP
  • Your normal AC power supply as a backup
  • Solar panel + MC4-to-XT60i cable (not in the Delta 3 Max box)
  • Outdoor-rated extension cord, if needed
  • Distilled water (if you use the humidifier)
  • A tarp or table cover for the station
  • Phone with the EcoFlow app, already paired

Is the Delta 3 Max Good for CPAP Camping?

For drive-in camping, it’s an excellent CPAP companion: quiet, with days of DC power and solar-friendly. The trade-offs are its 44.8 lb weight (not for hike-in sites) and its no-fly status. Read our EcoFlow Delta 3 Max review for the full specs, or check the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max price on Amazon. We don’t link CPAP equipment; get it through your DME supplier.

Delta 3 Max CPAP Camping FAQ

How many nights will the Delta 3 Max run a CPAP while camping?

About 7 nights on DC with the humidifier off, and about 4 with it on (our estimates). Your machine and settings decide the real figure.

Do I need a DC converter for my CPAP?

For the most efficient setup, yes; use your CPAP maker’s DC cord or converter. AC works too, with fewer nights.

Can I fly with the Delta 3 Max for my CPAP?

No. It’s far over the FAA’s 160Wh limit.

Will cold weather stop my CPAP?

The Delta 3 Max discharges down to −10°C, but it won’t charge below 0°C. Keep it sheltered and test on a cold night near home first.
