Delta 3 Max Abroad: 120V vs 220V Before You Ship It

Sending an EcoFlow Delta 3 Max to family abroad? The US model is 120V/60Hz only. What works on 220V grids, solar charging, adapters, and a Spanish summary.

Many buyers send the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max to family abroad, often to places with long, frequent blackouts. Spanish-language reviews mention Cuba and Mexico again and again. But the US Delta 3 Max is a 120V, 60Hz machine, and that affects both what it can power and how you charge it. Read this before you ship one.

Testing note: This guide is based on EcoFlow’s published US specs. We haven’t tested the unit on non-US grids. Check local voltage, plug types and import rules for your destination.

What “120V Only” Means for the Delta 3 Max

US Delta 3 Max
AC outlets4 × 120V, 60Hz, pure sine wave
AC charging input100–120V, 15A, up to 1,800W
Solar input11–60V DC, 500W max (works anywhere)
Car input12/24V DC (works anywhere)
220/230V outputNone

An Amazon reviewer put it plainly: the unit has no 220V outlet, only 120V. EcoFlow sells regional versions with 230V output and input (the EU and UK models, for example, have a 3,200W X-Boost rating), but the Amazon US listing (B0FQV6LMVX) is the 120V model.

Can You Charge It From a 220V Wall Outlet?

EcoFlow lists the US model’s AC input as 100–120V. Plugging it into a 220–240V outlet with only a plug adapter is outside that spec and could damage the unit. Your options:

  1. Solar: the DC solar input doesn’t care about grid voltage. Panels within 11–60V and 500W charge it anywhere. This is the most reliable option where the grid is unreliable anyway. Our solar setup guide shows combinations that fit the 60V and 18A limits.
  2. A step-down transformer (220/240V to 110/120V) rated well above the charging power. At full speed the Delta 3 Max draws up to 1,800W, so either use a large transformer or lower the charge speed in the app to suit a smaller one.
  3. A car, via the XT60i input, for slow top-ups.

Where the local grid is already 110–127V at 60Hz, the AC input is within or close to spec, but check the actual voltage at the destination.

Can It Power 220V Appliances?

Not directly. 220V-only appliances (many fridges and freezers outside North America, for example) need 220V power. A step-up transformer running off the Delta 3 Max is possible in theory, but transformers add losses, and big transformers have their own idle draw and startup surges. For a 220V household, a regional 230V model of a power station is usually the better buy.

The easiest case: the household already uses 110–127V appliances, or you’re shipping 120V appliances along with it, such as a 120V fridge, fans and chargers. USB and 12V devices work the same everywhere.

Plugs and Frequency

  • The outlets are North American NEMA 5-20 (which also accept standard NEMA 5-15 plugs).
  • The output is 60Hz. Most chargers and electronics don’t care, but some motor-driven appliances and clocks designed for 50Hz may run differently.

Shipping and Warranty Notes

  • Large lithium batteries are regulated as dangerous goods for shipping, and many carriers restrict or refuse them. You can’t take it on a plane: the FAA bans power stations over 160Wh in both carry-on and checked bags, and this one is 2,048Wh. Check the rules with your shipping company and the destination’s customs office.
  • Amazon lists the unit as non-returnable for hazmat reasons.
  • Warranty service outside the US may be limited. Register the unit in the app (5 years in total) and ask EcoFlow support about international coverage before you ship.

What It Can Do During Long Blackouts Abroad

One Cuban owner wrote on YouTube that the Delta 3 Max “makes the difference between having power or not” during long blackouts. With 120V appliances, a full charge runs a fridge for about 18–19 hours, a router for more than a day and a half, and a fan for days (our estimates). Paired with solar, it can recharge every sunny day. Our home backup guide and refrigerator runtime guide have the numbers.

Delta 3 Max 120V vs 220V FAQ

Does the Delta 3 Max work on 220V?

The US model’s AC input is rated 100–120V, and its outlets are 120V only. Use solar, a car or a step-down transformer to charge it on a 220V grid.

Can I buy a 220V Delta 3 Max?

EcoFlow sells regional 230V versions in some markets. The Amazon US listing is the 120V model.

Can I charge it with solar abroad?

Yes. Solar is DC, so any panels within 11–60V and 500W work anywhere.

Will my 50Hz appliance work on it?

Most electronics will. Some motors and clocks designed for 50Hz may not run normally at 60Hz.
