Starlink Mini has no power button. Unless you add one, turning it off means unplugging the cable, and if you run it off a battery at a campsite, in an RV, or on a boat, you end up doing that a lot. It’s annoying, and it puts extra wear on the connectors.
STARGEAR sent me its STARGEAR Power Switch for Starlink Mini/Gen 3 to fix that. I plugged it straight into my Starlink Mini’s power adapter and ran the whole setup off my solar battery system. Everything was running on free energy from the sun, and the switch did exactly what it should.
In this Starlink Mini power switch review, I’ll go over how I set it up, what the LEDs tell you, the specs, the waterproofing and magnetic base, my speed test, and the pros and cons.

What Is the STARGEAR Starlink Mini Power Switch?
The STARGEAR Power Switch (model SG-STG11A-GY) is an inline on/off switch for Starlink Mini and Starlink Gen 3. It sits between your existing power cable and the dish. You get a metal push button on top, two blue LED indicators, and a magnetic base. Instead of unplugging the cable to cut power, you just tap the button.
Key Specs and Features
- Works with Starlink Mini and Starlink Gen 3
- One-touch metal push button
- Dual blue LED indicators (power in and switch on)
- IP67 waterproof rating
- 16mΩ ultra-low resistance
- Magnetic base for metal surfaces
- 16AWG, roughly 1 ft (30 cm) cable, per the listing
- Plug and play, no adapters needed
- Grey finish, 1-year warranty, per the listing
Setup: Plug and Play
Setup is super simple. You connect it in line with the Starlink cable you already have, and that’s it. There are no adapters and no extra parts. I had it plugged into my Starlink Mini power adapter in a few seconds, then connected the whole thing to my off-grid solar battery system.
The Button and Dual LEDs
What I like most is how much easier it makes turning Starlink on and off. Instead of unplugging cables every time, you tap the metal button on top. The button feels solid, not like a cheap plastic toggle.
The two blue LEDs make it very clear what’s happening:
- One light shows power is coming into the switch.
- The other light shows the switch is on and sending power to your Starlink Mini.
That means you can tell at a glance whether your battery is supplying power, and whether the dish is actually getting it. When you’re troubleshooting off-grid, that’s really useful.
My Speed Test: No Performance Loss
I pressed the button, and the Starlink Mini powered up quickly. Then I ran a speed test, and I got super fast download speeds. The switch did not affect performance at all.
That fits the 16mΩ ultra-low resistance rating on the listing. Low resistance means very little energy is lost in the switch, so it doesn’t heat up or drop voltage before the power reaches the dish. If you’re running on a battery or solar, you want every watt going to Starlink.
IP67 Waterproof for Outdoor Use
The switch has IP67 waterproof protection, so it can handle rain and outdoor conditions at a campsite, on an RV, or on a boat. Since Starlink Mini is built to go outside, it makes sense for the switch to be just as tough.
Magnetic Base and Compact Size
The magnetic base lets you stick the switch to any metal surface, so the button is easy to reach. I stuck mine to a metal surface, and it kept the switch in a clean, easy spot instead of dangling on the cable. It works great on an RV frame, a truck bed, a toolbox, or a metal battery box.
It’s also compact, so it packs easily with the rest of your Starlink gear.
Things to Consider Before Buying
- Compatibility: It’s made for Starlink Mini and Gen 3. Check the listing for your exact setup.
- Cable length: The switch cable is short, about 1 ft per the listing. It’s meant to sit in line, not extend your run.
- Mounting: The magnetic base needs a metal surface. On plastic or wood, it will just sit loose.

Is it waterproof?
Yes. It’s rated IP67.
Does it work with Starlink Gen 3?
Yes. STARGEAR says it works with both Starlink Mini and Gen 3.

Final Verdict
This has become one of my favorite Starlink accessories. It’s convenient, well built, and solves a real problem. If you want an easier way to control power to your Starlink Mini or Gen 3 when you’re camping, traveling, or running off-grid, the STARGEAR Power Switch is the right one for you.
