Medical disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional. This is not medical advice. Talk to your doctor, your equipment supplier (DME), and your device’s manufacturer before relying on any battery for medical equipment. Always have a backup plan.
Thinking about the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max as a portable power station for your CPAP machine? It’s one of the most common reasons people buy a 2kWh station. This guide is the setup-and-planning hub: how to connect a CPAP, which settings matter, how to plan for outages and trips, and what EcoFlow itself says about medical equipment. For detailed runtime tables, see our companion Delta 3 Max CPAP runtime guide.

What EcoFlow Says About Medical Equipment
EcoFlow’s Delta 3 Max user manual states that the product “is not intended for powering life-sustaining medical equipment, including but not limited to medical-grade ventilators (hospital-grade CPAP…)”. It also tells users to consult the equipment manufacturer before using it with other medical equipment, and it warns about electromagnetic interference with implants such as pacemakers. Treat the Delta 3 Max as a convenience and backup tool for a home CPAP, never as life support, and only with your clinician’s guidance.
Delta 3 Max CPAP Runtime at a Glance
These are estimates for a ResMed AirSense 11-class machine. Details are in our CPAP runtime guide.
| Setup | Est. nights (8h) |
|---|---|
| DC, humidifier and heated tube off | ~7 nights |
| AC, humidifier and heated tube off | ~4 nights |
| DC, humidifier on | ~4 nights |
| AC, humidifier on | ~2.5 nights |
The pattern is clear: DC beats AC, and the humidifier is the biggest variable. Only change your humidifier settings with your doctor’s OK.
Option 1: Connect Through DC (Most Efficient)
The Delta 3 Max’s inverter draws about 25W when it’s on, which can be close to what the CPAP itself uses. Running the CPAP from the 12V car socket (126W max, on the back of the unit) skips the inverter.
- Use your CPAP manufacturer’s DC power cord or converter. ResMed sells an Air11 DC/DC converter (input 12/24V); ResMed’s German shop lists a maximum draw of about 90W, which fits under the 126W socket limit.
- Don’t use generic converters unless your device maker approves them.
- Set DC Timeout to “Never” in the app. On other EcoFlow models, owners have reported DC ports shutting off overnight with CPAPs.
Option 2: Connect Through AC (Simplest)
Plug the CPAP’s normal power supply into an AC outlet. It’s easy and uses the equipment exactly as your supplier set it up, at the cost of the inverter’s idle draw.
- Set AC Timeout to “Never” so the inverter doesn’t shut off during low draw.
- If the Delta 3 Max is plugged into the wall, it acts as a UPS with under 10ms switchover. A brief grid blip shouldn’t interrupt therapy, but confirm with your own machine.
Setup Checklist Before Your First Night
- Set up the app at home on Wi-Fi and register the warranty.
- Set the AC and DC timeouts to “Never.”
- Charge to 100%, and turn on Storm Guard before forecast storms.
- Do a test night at home with the grid on, and check the app in the morning to see how much energy you used.
- Note your machine’s real watts so you can plan future nights accurately.
Outage Planning
- Talk to your doctor, DME supplier and utility. Many utilities keep medical-needs registries for outage notifications.
- Have a backup plan that doesn’t depend on a single battery: a second power source, a place to go and a plan for multi-day outages.
- Recharge during the day from a generator (run outdoors only), a neighbor’s outlet or solar. The Delta 3 Max takes up to 1,800W of AC (about 68 minutes to 80%) or up to 500W of solar.
- Keep phones and a light charged from the USB ports.

Travel and Camping
At 44.8 lb the Delta 3 Max is a car-camping tool, not a carry-on. You can’t fly with it: the FAA bans lithium power stations over 160Wh on passenger aircraft, and this one is 2,048Wh. For road trips and camping, DC power and a solar panel can keep a CPAP going for many nights. We cover that in our CPAP camping guide in this series, and general camp power in our camping fridge guide.
Two CPAPs and a Fridge?
One Amazon reviewer reported the Delta 3 Max “easily ran fridge, 2 cpaps, and phone chargers,” recharging with a gas generator during the day. That fits our math: two CPAPs with humidifiers off plus a fridge use roughly 2kWh a day, so daily recharging is required.
Is the Delta 3 Max a Good CPAP Power Station?
For home outage backup and car camping, it’s a strong choice thanks to its large capacity, quiet fan (25dB or less at 600W, per EcoFlow) and fast recharging, as long as you follow EcoFlow’s warnings and your clinician’s advice. See our EcoFlow Delta 3 Max review for the full picture, or check the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max price on Amazon. We don’t link CPAP machines or medical supplies; get those through your DME supplier.

Delta 3 Max CPAP FAQ
Can the Delta 3 Max run a CPAP machine?
Yes, for many nights, depending on settings and connection. Talk to your doctor and device maker first. EcoFlow says it isn’t intended for life-sustaining medical equipment.
Should I use DC or AC for my CPAP?
DC through your manufacturer’s converter is more efficient. AC is simpler. Both work, provided the timeouts are set to “Never.”
Will the Delta 3 Max switch over fast enough for a CPAP?
EcoFlow specifies under 10ms. Test your machine during a planned unplug before relying on it.
Can I take the Delta 3 Max on a plane for my CPAP?
No. Stations over 160Wh are banned on passenger aircraft.
