Dlypow Digital Battery Tester Review: Check AA, AAA, 9V, Lithium and Button Cell Batteries

My Dlypow digital battery tester review: testing AAA batteries, the health indicator, magnetic holder, USB-C charging, compatible batteries, pros, and cons.

I have a drawer full of loose batteries, and I’m guessing you do too. Some are brand new, some are half-used, and some are completely dead, and there’s no way to tell them apart just by looking. So I tested the Dlypow Digital Battery Tester, a compact tester with an LCD display that tells you a battery’s voltage and whether it’s good, weak, or ready to be replaced.

Dlypow sent me this tester to review. In my video, I test several AAA batteries with different charge levels to show how easy it is to sort the good ones from the bad.

In this Dlypow battery tester review, I’ll cover its key features, which batteries it works with, how I used it, the pros and cons, and who should have one.

What Is the Dlypow Battery Tester?

The Dlypow Digital Battery Tester (model DB1) is a handheld battery checker that measures battery voltage and displays a simple health rating. Dlypow describes the ratings as ‘Good’ (green), ‘Weak’ (yellow), and ‘Replace’ (red), with fun expressions on the screen.

It’s rechargeable through USB-C, so you don’t need to keep batteries in the tester itself, and it uses a magnetic holder to keep batteries in place while testing. According to the listing, it measures about 3.8 x 2.5 x 1.2 inches.

Key Features

  • Tests AAA, AA, C, D, and 9V batteries
  • Compatible with rechargeable batteries
  • Supports many button cell batteries
  • Digital LCD display showing voltage
  • Good / Weak / Replace battery health indicator
  • Magnetic battery holder
  • USB-C rechargeable
  • Open-circuit test that draws no power from the tested battery, according to Dlypow
  • Compact, portable design

What Batteries Does It Test?

According to Dlypow, the Dlypow Battery Tester works with:

  • 1.2V Ni-MH/Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries
  • 1.5V alkaline batteries
  • 3.0V lithium batteries
  • 3.7V Li-ion batteries
  • 9.0V batteries
  • Sizes including AAA, AA, C, SC, D, N, 18650, CR123A, LR44, CR2032, CR2450, CR2, CRV3, and 1.5V/3V button cells

How It Works: 3 Steps

1. Press the SELECT button to choose the voltage range.

2. Insert the battery with the correct polarity.

3. Read the voltage and battery status on the LCD.

My Real-World Test

For this review, I tested several AAA batteries around my home using the Dlypow Battery Tester.

One thing I really like is how simple the process is. After selecting the correct voltage range, I inserted each battery and immediately got a voltage reading along with an easy-to-understand health indicator.

Instead of guessing whether a battery still has life left, the tester clearly shows whether it’s in good condition, getting weak, or should be replaced. That makes it much easier to sort batteries before using them in remotes, flashlights, toys, or other household electronics.

The magnetic battery holder is another feature I appreciate, because it keeps smaller batteries in place while testing and makes the process feel much more secure.

Rechargeable via USB-C

The tester itself recharges through USB-C, so you don’t have to keep replacing batteries inside the tester just to check other batteries. Dlypow says it stays on standby for 2 to 3 months per full charge.

Why a Battery Tester Is Worth Having

  • Stop throwing away batteries that still have life
  • Avoid putting weak batteries in important devices like smoke detectors or flashlights
  • Sort a mixed drawer of batteries in minutes
  • Check rechargeable batteries to see when they’re wearing out

Dlypow Battery Tester Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Works with a wide range of battery sizes and chemistries
  • Clear voltage reading and Good/Weak/Replace indicator
  • Magnetic holder keeps batteries steady
  • USB-C rechargeable
  • Doesn’t drain the battery being tested
  • Small enough for a junk drawer or toolbox

Cons

  • You have to select the correct voltage range first
  • It’s an open-circuit voltage test, not a full load test

The Dlypow Digital Battery Tester is great for:

  • Households with lots of remotes, toys, and flashlights
  • Parents tired of guessing which batteries are dead
  • Rechargeable battery users who want to track battery health
  • Hobbyists working with 18650 and button cells
