The Victron Lithium SuperPack NG is Victron’s drop-in LiFePO4 battery. It’s built to replace lead-acid without adding an external BMS. Victron’s page says it has a built-in battery management system, integrated heating for charging below freezing, monitoring through the VictronConnect app, and an on/off switch for storage. That makes it a very different product from Victron’s Smart and NG batteries, which need an external BMS. Here are the official numbers.

Victron also lists 25.6V/100Ah and 51.2V/100Ah models. The 51.2V model floats at 54V. The 12.8V/100Ah weighs 10.7 kg and measures 173 x 173 x 273 mm.
Key Features
- Built-in BMS. Victron’s spec table lists “Requires External BMS?” as no.
- Charges and discharges from -30 to 60°C, with integrated heating for subzero charging.
- 2,500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, with capacity still at least 80% of nominal.
- Unlimited parallel connection.
- Round-trip efficiency of 93% on the 12.8V/100Ah.
- Cell safety listings: IEC 62619, UL 1973 and UL 9540A.
The Big Limit: No Series Connection
Victron’s spec table says series configuration: no. You can’t wire two 12V SuperPacks into a 24V bank. If you want 24V or 48V, buy the 25.6V or 51.2V model.
Who It’s For
- Van, caravan and boat retrofits replacing an AGM bank without adding a Lynx Smart BMS or VE.Bus BMS.
- Cold-weather users, thanks to the built-in heating.
- Anyone who wants app monitoring from the battery itself.
Who Should Look Elsewhere
- Large 48V home banks often use Victron’s Lithium NG batteries with a Lynx Smart BMS NG, which gives full system control over DVCC.
- Anyone planning to series-connect 12V batteries.
Good to Know Before You Buy
- No series connection.
- Storage limits. Victron gives a maximum storage time when fully charged of 1 year at 25°C and 3 months at 40°C.

Worked Example: Replacing a 200Ah AGM Bank
An RV with two 100Ah AGM batteries in parallel has about 100Ah usable if you stay around 50% depth of discharge. Swapping to one 12.8V/200Ah SuperPack NG gives about 160Ah usable at 80% depth of discharge, the level Victron rates for 2,500 cycles (estimate). That’s roughly 60% more usable energy from a single battery, with the BMS and heating built in.
Worked Example: Runtime for a Weekend
| Load | Daily energy (example) |
|---|---|
| 12V fridge | ≈ 450Wh |
| Lights, fan, water pump | ≈ 200Wh |
| Phones and laptop | ≈ 200Wh |
| Total | ≈ 850Wh |
A 12.8V/100Ah SuperPack (1,280Wh) covers about 1.2 days at 80% depth of discharge; the 12.8V/200Ah (2,560Wh) about 2.4 days (estimates, before solar or alternator charging).
Worked Example: Charge Current Limits
The 12.8V/100Ah accepts up to 100A continuous charge. In practice, most chargers in a small system are smaller:
- A Blue Smart IP22 12/30 fully recharges an empty 100Ah in about 3.5 hours (estimate).
- An Orion XS at 50A takes about 2 hours of driving.
- A MultiPlus-II 12/3000 at 120A would exceed the 100Ah model’s 100A limit, so set its charge current to 100A or less, or use the 200Ah model.
Setting Up Chargers for the SuperPack
| Setting | 12.8V model |
|---|---|
| Absorption | Per the SuperPack manual’s charge voltage |
| Float | 13.5V |
| Low-voltage cut-off on loads | Above the 11.2V end-of-discharge voltage |
Use a lithium preset or a user-defined profile in VictronConnect on SmartSolar, Orion and Blue Smart chargers, and set the same values on any non-Victron charger.
Installation Steps
- Turn the battery’s on/off switch off before wiring.
- Mount it securely; IP65 means it can go in damp lockers or under-floor boxes.
- Connect cables and a main fuse sized for your largest load, within the battery’s 200A (100Ah) or 400A (200Ah) continuous discharge rating.
- For a parallel bank, use equal cable lengths to each battery.
- Turn the switch on, then connect in VictronConnect to check state of charge, temperature and the BMS status.
SuperPack NG vs Lithium NG With an External BMS
The SuperPack is the simple route: one battery, built-in protection, done. Victron’s Lithium NG batteries with an NG BMS suit bigger systems where you want the BMS to control every charger and load through DVCC, or need series banks. For a single-battery van or boat, the SuperPack keeps the wiring short and the parts list small.
Using the On/Off Switch for Storage
For a boat or RV laid up over winter, charge the battery, then switch it off. Victron gives a maximum storage time when fully charged of 1 year at 25°C, so plan a top-up before that.
Cold-Weather Use
The integrated heating lets the battery charge below freezing, using some of the incoming charge energy to warm the cells first. That suits ski trips, winter vanlife and boats in cold climates without an insulated battery box.
FAQ
Does the Victron Lithium SuperPack need an external BMS?
No. Victron says the BMS is built in.
Can I put two SuperPacks in series?
No. Victron lists series configuration as not supported. Parallel is unlimited.
Can it charge below freezing?
Yes. It has integrated heating, and Victron lists a charging range of -30 to 60°C.
Can I parallel a 100Ah and a 200Ah SuperPack?
Victron lists unlimited parallel connection. Matching sizes keeps current sharing simpler, so check the manual before mixing capacities.
Does it work with non-Victron chargers?
Yes, as long as the charger can be set to the voltages in the SuperPack manual.
What happens at the end-of-discharge voltage?
The built-in BMS protects the cells by disconnecting before they’re over-discharged, so set your loads’ low-voltage cut-off a little above it.
