LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 Battery Review: Charging It From 2.7V to 100% With the LiTime 20A Charger

My LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 battery review: reviving a 2.7V battery with the LiTime 20A charger, Bluetooth app monitoring, real-world tests, pros, and cons.

When my LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 Battery arrived, it was completely discharged. I checked it with a meter and it read only 2.7 volts. That’s not a number anyone wants to see on a 12V battery, but it gave me the perfect opportunity to test two things at once: whether the LiTime 12V 20A Lithium Battery Charger could bring it back, and how the battery performed once it was full.

The charger brought the battery back up surprisingly quickly. I used the battery’s built-in Bluetooth and the LiTime app to follow the charge from 77% to 97%, 99%, and finally 100%. Then I put the stored energy to work with a 12V/24V USB & USB-C Multi-Port Adapter and a DC LED flood light.

In this LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 battery review, I’ll go over the battery’s specs, how the 2.7V recovery went, the Bluetooth app, my real-world tests, the pros and cons, and who it’s for. If you want a deep dive on the charger itself, check out my LiTime 12V 20A charger review.

Light Enough to Carry

LiTime says the battery weighs about 1/6 as much as a 12V 100Ah lead-acid battery. At around 11 pounds, it’s easy to move between a kayak, a camper, and a workbench.

The Charger I Used: LiTime 12V 20A

To charge the battery, I used the LiTime 12V 20A Lithium Battery Charger. It delivers a 14.6V output at up to 20A, handles CC, CV, and Float/Cut Off stages automatically, and includes 0V activation for deeply discharged lithium batteries.

That 0V activation feature is what made this test interesting. LiTime also notes that the battery’s Bluetooth is activated by charging with a lithium-activation or MPPT charger, either on first use or after the battery has been switched off.

Charging the Battery From 2.7V to 100%

When I first checked the LiTime 12V 50Ah battery, it was reading only 2.7 volts. I connected the LiTime 20A charger and charged the battery for the first time.

The battery charged very quickly, and I periodically checked its progress using the LiTime app. In my video, I show it reaching 77%, then 97%, 99%, and eventually a full 100% charge.

Monitoring the Charge With the LiTime App

An important distinction: the app works with the Bluetooth-enabled battery, not the charger. The charger itself isn’t sending this information to my phone.

Through the battery’s Bluetooth connection, the app lets me monitor the battery’s status while it charges. It also shows a countdown with the estimated time remaining at the current charging rate before the battery reaches full. LiTime says the app connects instantly with no pairing required.

Putting the Battery to Work

Once the battery was charged, I wanted to do more than just show 100% in the app.

USB and USB-C Charging With a Multi-Port Adapter

I connected a 12V/24V USB & USB-C Multi-Port Adapter directly to the battery. The listing says it accepts 8V to 30V input and has 3 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports, a built-in LED light with an SOS mode, and battery clamps.

I first tested the adapter’s built-in light, then plugged in my vacuum to charge it through one of the adapter’s ports. It’s a simple way to turn a 12V battery into a portable USB power source.

Powering a DC LED Flood Light

Finally, I connected a DC-powered LED flood light directly to the battery and powered it from the LiFePO4 battery. It’s a good example of how a battery like this can run 12V lighting at a campsite, in a shed, or during an outage.

What Is the LiTime 12V 50Ah Battery Good For?

LiTime lists boats, RVs, trolling motors, and vans as compatible uses. Based on my testing, I’d add:

  • Kayak and small boat electronics like fish finders
  • DIY portable power boxes
  • 12V camping lighting and USB charging
  • Small solar storage systems

It’s not for starting engines, golf carts, or jacks.
