EcoFlow’s Delta 3 family confuses people because the names don’t line up with features. The EcoFlow Delta 3 Max has the most capacity of these three, the Delta 3 Plus has the most features, and the Delta 3 Classic is the stripped-down budget pick. This guide helps you decide whether you’re paying for capacity or features.

The Simple Rule: “Max” Means Capacity, “Plus” Means Features
Casey’s framing is the clearest explanation we’ve seen. Within the Delta 3 line, Max means more battery and Plus means more ports and expansion. Classic is the base model. The 2,048Wh EcoFlow Delta 3 Max has twice the capacity of the other two, but it gives up several things the 1kWh Plus has. The Delta 3 Max Plus combines both. We compare it in our Delta 3 Max vs Max Plus vs Delta 2 Max guide.

Who Each Model Is For
Delta 3 Classic: a home UPS on a budget. It has the same 1kWh as the Plus for much less money, but only three outlets, no 12V socket and no expansion. Casey points out it works well as an inline UPS for a router or PC. For camping, the missing 12V socket is a real loss. Here’s the Delta 3 Classic on Amazon.
EcoFlow Delta 3 Max: capacity without the extras. Pick it if runtime matters more than ports, for example to run a full-size fridge through an outage. Our estimate is about 18–22 hours on AC; see the fridge runtime guide. It’s also a good fit for a whole weekend of camping. You get the 12V socket and four outlets, but only one solar port and no extra-battery port. See the Delta 3 Max on Amazon.
Delta 3 Plus: features in a lighter body. Faster USB-C, more outlets, dual solar inputs and an expansion port. It’s the pick if you’d rather start at 1kWh and add batteries later.
Two Points from the Video Worth Repeating
- Watch your breaker while charging. All three can pull up to 1,800W from a wall outlet, which can trip a shared 15A circuit if something else big is running. You can lower the charge speed with the AC charging switch on the back or in the app.
- The alternator charger needs an adapter. None of the three non-expandable models has the extra-battery or alternator port. EcoFlow sells an adapter to its XT60 solar input, and Casey says it’s limited to about 500W. On the Delta 3 Max, the solar port and car input share one connector, so you swap cables.
How to Pick Capacity: The Quick Math
Casey’s rule of thumb is to divide battery watt-hours by the device’s watts. We’d add an efficiency factor: hours ≈ Wh × 0.8 ÷ watts. A 500W load gives about 1.6 hours on a 1kWh unit and about 3.3 hours on the Delta 3 Max. If your most important loads need more than one evening of runtime, the extra 1kWh earns its keep. If you mostly charge devices and run a router, 1kWh is plenty.
What Commenters Asked
- “Can I charge it from my car’s 12V socket?” Yes, through the XT60i input. Casey confirmed it’s slow. At 12V and 8A that’s about 100W, so a full Delta 3 Max would take many hours of driving.
- “Why not just use a power strip?” You can add outlets with a strip, but the total wattage limit stays the same.
- “Which is quieter for a fridge UPS?” Casey’s answer was that they’re quiet unless pushed hard. EcoFlow rates the Delta 3 Max at 25dB or less at 600W.
- Buying for family abroad: several viewers mentioned sending units to Cuba. Remember the US Delta 3 Max is 120V only. Our home backup guide explains what that means.

EcoFlow Delta 3 Max vs Classic vs Plus FAQ
Is the Delta 3 Max better than the Delta 3 Plus?
It has twice the capacity and more AC output. The Plus has more ports, faster USB-C, dual solar inputs and expansion. The better choice depends on whether you need runtime or flexibility.
Can the Delta 3 Max be expanded like the Plus?
No. See is the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max expandable.
Does the Delta 3 Classic have a 12V car socket?
No, according to Casey’s walkthrough. The Delta 3 Max and Delta 3 Plus both do.
Which Delta 3 is best for camping?
For a weekend with a 12V fridge, we’d pick the Delta 3 Max for its capacity and 12V socket. The Plus is lighter if you can live with 1kWh.
